Melissa Taylor is a long time hairstylist of 23 years, single mother to a 10 year old amazing boy, and the product formulator of NÜLA hair and skin care.  

NÜLA was founded by Melissa in 2015 during a period of time where she was searching for ways to tie together her talents and passions. When her son was born, she was so concerned with what ingredients were in the products that were going onto his skin, she began to think about why she hadn’t been that concerned about her own. Melissa wanted to take serious steps in re-creating all of the products that went onto her families' skin and hair.  

She took an online herbalism course which helped her to formulate the products that she wanted to create.  She began to grow her own flowers and herbs to use in her infusions and waters, as well as foraging around the PNW for pine sap, rosehips, nettle & wild roses for her products. Tested and approved by Health Canada, each product has been made in small batches and with luxurious ingredients to ensure quality and performance.

After a few years with NÜLA under her belt, Melissa began to dream about combining her love of doing hair with the product line. She worked hard, and with a lot of support during the pandemic, NÜLA Salon & Apothecary was born! On September 18, 2021 the salon opened its doors to clients! You can find it located on Union Street in the heart of Strathcona.
